Meet Chef Rachel
“At an early age, I learned to cook healthy and delicious meals for my family. I've always loved the way great food can bring a family together around the table.” - Rachel DeSantis

My name is Rachel DeSantis and I am the owner and chef of Chef En Route, a personal chef service.
Growing up in Dunstable, Massachusetts I really can't pinpoint the exact moment when I first started cooking. It seems to always have been a part of my life. Everyone in my family cooks. You wouldn't find a cake mix or any prepackaged food in our pantry. There was no other way to cook, that I was aware of, than from scratch.
Whenever my grandmother (Momma) came to visit, you'd find her fingerprints in the shortening - she used her hands to measure everything. Hearing her hum a happy tune as she baked made my heart smile. Warmth and love radiated from her like sunshine. She always gave me a bit of pie dough to create my own little turnover. Though Momma passed away many years ago, the thought of her still brings back vivid, wonderful memories centered on the kitchen.
Every summer we had a large garden, fresh veggies abounded. Creativity was encouraged and we used recipes mainly for baking but not for cooking. Still today, my husband's favorite meals are the ones I create on the fly from what we have in the fridge.
Through the years, my fridge and pantry were always full of ingredients. My roommates and I would host impromptu feasts on the weekends with our friends. I still enjoy sitting around with my friends; their bellies full and happy from what I have created for them. It is like giving a little part of me to make those I care about feel nourished and content.
After years of working in the corporate world, I found out about the Personal Chef industry and was drawn to it. After some research, I joined The Personal Chefs Network (PCN) and have never looked back. I love making my clients' lives easier and more enjoyable while doing work that just doesn't feel like work to me. The flow of positive energy that I experience while I'm cooking shines through in the food I create.
My clients feel more relaxed and less stressed after a long day, knowing that a home-cooked meal is waiting. As a bonus, they get to save about 10 hours per week to do whatever makes them happiest.
